About step'24

Welcome Remarks

Director General, Institute for National Transformation (INT)

Who are we partnering with? The Institute for National Transformation (INT) envisions a transformed Africa by 2030, focusing on key sectors. To achieve this vision, INT collaborates with governments, academic institutions, and communities to nurture leaders of integrity, excellence, compassion, vitality, and responsibility. These leaders are mobilized to impact their spheres of influence and contribute to Africa’s development.

We are honored to partner with the Science, Technology, and Innovation Secretariat at the Office of the President (STI-OP), Busitema University’s Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science (BUFAAS), Busitema University Agro Entrepreneurship Centre (BUAEC), and other governmental and private sector organizations to co-host the 2024 INT STEP Conference on National Transformation, themed “Governance and the Power of Systems.”

Africa faces interconnected challenges— from economic disparities to environmental concerns—that demand innovative solutions and transformative leadership. Traditional models often fall short in addressing these complexities. We need leaders who comprehend systemic interconnectedness, wield power effectively, and navigate governance complexities to drive significant change.

INT understands that effective governance transcends mere procedures; it hinges on deep systemic understanding. By equipping leaders with this knowledge, we empower them to unlock their potential for impactful change across all levels of society.

The 2024 STEP conference will equip leaders with the tools, strategies, and networks needed to navigate complex systems, influence governance structures, and foster lasting change locally, regionally, and nationally. Participants will gain insights into systemic operations, power dynamics, and effective leadership leveraging.

This conference marks INT’s continual collaboration with community and governmental agencies since launching its international conferences in 2011. The insights gained will be widely shared to aid other nations facing similar challenges in engagement.

We appreciate your participation and look forward to your invaluable contributions.

Warm regards,
PROF. VINCENT C. ANIGBOGU

Introduction

Africa faces complex challenges that demand innovative solutions and transformative leadership. From economic disparities and social inequities to environmental concerns and political polarisation, our continents most pressing issues are interconnected and require a systemic approach. Traditional leadership models often fall short in addressing these challenges. We need leaders who understand the interconnectedness of systems, the levels of power within them, and how to navigate the complexities of governance to drive meaningful change. The Institute for National Transformaton (INT) recognizes that effective governance is not simply about policies and procedures, but about understanding the underlying systems that shape our society. By equipping leaders with the knowledge and skills to navigate these systems, we can unlock their full potential to create lasting impact at all levels. The conference will equip no-excuse leaders with the knowledge, strategies, and networks necessary to navigate complex systems, influence governance structures, and drive meaningful change at local, regional, and national levels. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how systems operate, the levels of power within them, and how to effectively leverage their leadership skills to create lasting impact.
